Hey, wassup? My name is Quinntarah “Q.” Maxwell (We/she/her) and I'm a licensed mental health counselor and Certified Clinical Trauma Professional with a rich tapestry of experience since 2016. Originally from Brooklyn, NY, and a proud member of the Gullah Geechee lineage, my journey blends ancestral veneration practices, 10+ years of clinical training, and a deep connection to traditional African spirituality.
I'm passionate about advocating for (intentionally) marginalized groups and breaking down barriers to quality mental health services. My voice is a critical contribution to the growing psychedelic field, especially for the Black and LGBTQIA+ community. As a trainee of the CIIS Psychedelic-Assisted Therapies and Research 2021 cohort, I bring a unique blend of cultural heritage and expertise to the forefront. With a Bachelor’s in Psychology and a Master’s in Forensic Mental Health Counseling, my eclectic therapy-style incorporates various techniques honed over the years. Having witnessed the failings of for-profit psychedelic models, I'm committed to reshaping the landscape with competence, honesty, and a judgment-free ethos. I firmly believe in collaborative healing and creating spaces rooted in authentic compassion and community care. Currently licensed in New York and soon to be licensed in Georgia, I'm dedicated to fostering lasting mental wellness wherever I go.
My clinical approach is grounded in principles of cultural competence, social justice, and empowerment. During a free 25 minute consultation, I'll determine if I'm able to help you reach your goals. During our first sessions, we will get to know each other and collaborate on the vision for your mental health. Over the last decade, I have learned many therapeutic and wellness techniques and will formulate a treatment plan for you. Each client is unique and I integrate my skills to best fit your needs.
I use a strengths-based approach to help you uncover your inner-directed healer and strengths. We will explore past experiences, present barriers, and future plans. I have a conversational style, without being too familiar.
